Early morning

hey blogsters,
just a quick end of the day report. Emily did 10 @ 10.  Ten powerful laps at 10pm. So good.

We had an interesting few minutes this evening. I was down the hall and Peg called and said everything was fine but I should come to the room asap. I eased into the room and sitting there in a chair was a young blond woman, in a hospital gown, mask on, gloved up, and IV poll. Peg and Nicky were across the room with slightly incredulous expressions on their faces. I started to say hello to  Em and realized, that's not her. Emily is sitting 10 feet away. A young blond woman, in a hospital gown, mask on, gloved up and IV poll. Same age. Same height. Same weight.  Same disease. Same transplant.
We were there watching , listening and occasionally joining a most extraordinary conversation between two people with a common bond  that is beyond normal human experience. A lot of courage in two strong battered little bodies.  The club they belong to is  select indeed, with a most limited membership and the most demanding of qualifications.  Another thing to ponder and be amazed by in this most awesome of weeks.

good morning,
Keith

  1. It's amazing the amount of coincidences like that that happen in this small world of ours. It's not every day that you run into someone as similar to yourself, I'm sure.
I'm glad to hear that your recovery process is coming along well, Emily, no matter how slow it may feel like. You have a very inspiring blog and I admire you for the incredibly strong woman that you are.

  2. Emily,
So glad to hear you're getting rid of some of your "hook-ups". The healing & progress you have made this week are just unbelievable. I'm sure a lot of it is your Body's natural healing processes, and partly the great expert medical attention you're blessed with. But I also know a huge part of your progress is just Emily being Emily ... your incredible strength, courage, & zest for life... and you continue to inspire us all!
Keep it up gal, you're doing fantastic!

  8. Hi Monforts. Once again, tears for breakfast--reading your entry this morning is very moving. Emily, how wonderful for you to meet someone (your twin?) to share your experiences with, and to compare notes with.....that is an amazing gift on top of all of the other amazing gifts. Have a great day today! Love, Brenda

  9. Emily, I have been following your progress each day. When traveling, I read your blog on my iPhone. Karen said it was great to visit with you yesterday and she will visit again today. It is a beautiful day in Eugene so I am going out for a long bike ride soon. Your challenges will bring a new awareness and gratitude for each deep breath I will take while climbing those steep hills on my ride today. The way you so courageously face such towering challenges with tenacity, humor and grace is an inspiration to me as I face my daily minor challenges. Sending blessings your way, Randy

  10. Speaking of coincidences, I just emailed Denae, missing her lots and then checked your blog and there was a note from her. Tears came to me. Powerful on many levels.
The image of mirrored Extremilys sitting in the same room, I can only imagine how that was for you Emily and for you Peg and Keith. I am in constant awe of your family, the path you have walked and extraordinary people each of you are. I am honored to know you and bear witness to this amazing story.
Yesterday at work, I went to the Pixis to pull out a drug for a patient last name "Mo....." EMILY MONFORT popped up on the screen.
At lunch I went to sit down by the river behind the hospital. The sun shining on the water shimmering gold and an image from the Colorado river came to me. Extremily standing on the front of the raft in ahead of me, a strap in each hand, feet firmly planted riding the huge rollers. A tiny figure dwarfed by the size of the waves and the canyon walls but a presence and spirit indomitable as the canyon itself.
I smiled and knew I would see that image again. I look forward to that day Emily.
Sending much love to all of you.

  11. Yikes! Will the world still spin after two forces with such magnetism come into close contact? You're lucky you weren't opposite polarities or the two of you and all your assorted paraphernalia would have been smashed together in a indecipherable heap! That must have been fun for you Em. Maybe a new kinship has been born!

  12. Hi, Emily, Peg and Keith! I am so glad that your epic journey this week is continuing in a positive way. It struck me that a week ago you had no hint of all the blessings that would be happening so rapidly--not without challenges, but Emily you have faced so many challenges and pain with such inner strength and grace that you inspire us all. As I reflect on the remarkable person that you are and what you have accomplished in 25 years with those old lungs, I can only guess at what an awesome future is before you with your powerful new lungs! I can't wait till you write your book. Your perspective on life is something that the world needs to hear right now, I believe. My prayers are with you often each day, and I've been sending you Reiki energy as well. All my nuns (East coast and Chicago) are praying also, and cheering you on! PS-- Amazing about the other blonde woman who just had a transplant! What's her first name? How serendipitous that you both are there at the same time! Take care, Em, Peg and Keith.
    Love, Gina

    Hello Most Beautiful Cousin,

Emily, when General Eisenhower's troops hit
Normandy beach in France on June 6, 1944, he would not have needed his troops if you had been there. You are a tough little girl. Welcome to The Greatest Generation(running a little behind schedule).
    Keep on getting better!!!

Our love and prayers go out to you, Keith, Peggy & Nicky.

    Jesus loves you
