Day Two 12:25 am

Emily has new lungs. I think this is a miracle. She has been out of surgery for about five hours and is in a private room in ICU since around 9 last night. She is doing well. Heavily sedated and on a ventilator which is according to plan. She does not really respond to us yet. Her color is remarkably good . She will be in ICU for at least a couple of days. She will love hearing from you. Either on the blog or email. You can send it to her or my address keithmonfort@gamail.com
Our dear friend Nicky is here and she Peg and I will take shifts with Emily for the next hours.
I will post an in depth account of today sometime later. For now she is doing well. Please continue to think of and pray or whatever it is you do, for Emily and her donor and family. We are very thankful tonight for this new chance for Emily to breathe again.

  2. My Dearest Emily,
I'm too far away from you right now! I hope you can feel my energy despite that fact. I'm thinking of you, your family, and the miraculous blessing you've received. I know your strength matches the power of that blessing and I can't wait to hear that you're awake, smiling, and beginning a new chapter of life.
    All my love,
    Jacque

  3. Emily, Keith and Peg,

This is truly a miracle. I hope you all can feel the love and prayers coming from Florida. I've been keeping Aunt Mary and Uncle Delma updated. I dropped off the latest updates to Aunt Mary at 7:30 a.m. before going to work. Emily, you keep healing, and we'll keep praying.

    Love Daisy

  4. Emmarose,

This is just all so amazing! It happened so fast once it was all approved. It's a little hard to fathom. When it started it was such an odd combination of relief, excitement, terror, and apprehension that I can't hardly describe it. Now, we are just excited for you, and very relieved, but still crossing our fingers. We know how strong you are though, so that makes it somehow easier to take, being so far away and all. I'm sure the next few days and weeks will be trying for you, but (this hardly seems necessary to say, given who you are) keep it upbeat and carry on girl. We are all here rooting for you. And take care of your dad. You know how he is!

    We love you.

  9. Dear Emily,
Way to go, dearest Niece! I am so happy for the amazing speed at which you were able to get these new lungs, and so proud of you with the awesome courage and determined spirit you've had during the preparation for this moment. Yesterday from 3 to 3:30 Chicago time I was able to get away to a quiet place in "my" hospital to pray and send Reiki to you in "your" hospital. I will continue to pray much over these next days, weeks and months, that your healing progresses with these new lungs!!!! I love you very much, and miss you lots. May this day be the beginning of the best part of your life.
Love, hugs, and smiles to you,---Gina
